Dr. Salima Ikram is a Magister and PhD from the University of Cambridge, where she focused on the study of zooarchaeological remains. She is Distinguished Professor of Egyptology at the American University in Cairo (AUC), where she also heads the Egyptology section. She is also a Visiting Professor in the Department of Ancient Near Eastern Languages and Cultures at Yale University. She has worked as an archaeologist in Turkey, Sudan, Greece and the United States.

On the other hand, he has directed important projects such as the Animal Mummy Project, the North Kharga Darb Ain Amur Survey and the excavation of the tombs KV10/KV63 in the Valley of the Kings. In addition, he co-directed the Predynastic Gallery Project and survey projects in the North Kharga Oasis. He regularly participates in archaeological missions in Egypt and has lectured internationally. She has published a large number of books and articles in academic and popular journals on Egyptian archaeology. Salima also has an active presence in the media, where she is a frequent guest speaker in her field of study. Her research focuses on funerary aspects, animal mummies, meat production and mummification practices in ancient Egypt.
